We are here to challenge the mainstream, to celebrate the underground, to become a breeding ground for ideas, opinions and art.
We are here to be a true alternative where other alternatives have abandoned us.
Why? The mainstream media in Central New York has been too stuck up and too busy to concentrate on important things, like emerging musicians, street artists, young voices - even fake news. So we're taking it into our own hands, using the one media they cannot control - the Internet. And we can make it as big as we want.
For every Syracuse Area Music Award winner, there are 15 bands playing in bars, basements, garages and house parties that were never nominated. For every award-winning newspaper columnist at the local newspapers there are 100 writers with stronger opinions, greater courage and more honesty. You are welcome here.
PirateCNY is a place to hear music that no radio station told you to listen to. It's a place to share a laugh, spout off when you're angry, or just find a link to something strange. It's a place where you can be yourself. Or you can be something else - a marauder on the high seas.
